Natural disaster or personal tragedy can happen unexpectedly to anyone. In the 2015 survey conducted by the Social Weather Station (SWS), only 60% of all the respondents admitted being financially prepared to shoulder possible costs in case a grave illness hit them or any of their family members.

If treating serious illnesses such as stroke, heart attack and cancer costs at least 1M, it means 9 out of 10 Filipinos may have a hard time or may not be able to shoulder costs of treating such medical conditions. 

The PMI Emergency Care Fund (ECF) is conceptualized to provide timely and responsive financial assistance to individuals with health-related needs.
